Solar, the manufacturer of Solar Tan Thru swimwear, began marketing micro fibre swimsuits in the early 1990’s, where it quickly became a hit with sunbathers. The company invented a process of weaving nylon and polyester threads together in such a way that they were far enough apart to let the sun through, yet close enough to still shade the skin, effectively giving the suit an SPF of 4-8.

Tan Thru swimsuits are better than an ordinary bathing suit. The high-tech process means a stronger, more durable fibre that won’t snag and is chlorine-resistant, yet has much better stretch than Lycra. The light weight and breathable fabric also means it’s quick drying and skin friendly (bacteria can’t build up in the swimsuit because it dries too fast.) The high contrast of colors and patterns is specially designed so people can’t see through the fabric. The special process used to create these swimsuits will allow you to suntan without the worry of tan lines. It’s about time technology is on your side.

Don’t ignore your sunscreen. Because the fabric still protects your skin from the sun’s harshest rays, you will need to add a low SPF lotion to the exposed parts of your body. The seamless tan will develop over time. For best results, tan in moderation, a few hours each day, to prevent burns and dry skin. Over a week, you will have that golden tan you were looking for!
