Home: Tan Lines - A colorful fashion statement
Tan lines – A colorful fashion statementIn years past, it was fashionable and fun to sport these lines, and some sunbathers could even be considered experts at it. Sharp, elegant colors at the hips and around the chest, depending how high or low they were, proved to the people who saw them that you were either modest or bold (usually the latter!) With the great variety of bikinis and tangas, beach goers regularly outdid each other with skimpier and more daring outfits to show lower and lower lines Depending on the crowd you hung out with, multiple shading (from wearing different bathing suits) could either be sexy or crass. Today though, tan lines are seen as an embarrassment, reserved for tacky, inexperienced vacationers who spend too long on the beach. White, pasty skin is out, and an even, bronze tan is in. When was the last time you saw a celebrity sporting zebra lines? Perhaps one day a farmer’s tan will be back in fashion, but in the mean time you have several options. Tanning salons expose your entire body, and many people will enter a booth naked just for this purpose. Creams, pills and sprays will artificially darken your skin, though many are turned off by the mess, short duration and sometimes fake look. A third option is special swimsuits that actually allow you to tan through the fabric. Short of going to a nudist resort, this could be a great option if you love the outdoors. |
